Accelerated BSN Orientation & Traditional BSN Orientation:

New Student Orientation

The goal of New Student Orientation (NSO) is to provide incoming nursing students with the tools needed to transition to nursing school or º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ.

The School of Nursing New Student Orientation is coordinated by the Student Success Center and is offered in two stages – asynchronous, self-paced orientation modules and a synchronous day of faculty, student, and staff panels and presentations.

Both of these aspects of NSO are mandatory for all incoming students.

If you are an incoming student, specific information and instructions regarding your orientation will be communicated from the School of Nursing Student Success Center to your LiveMail school email account.

Undergraduate Student Orientation

Undergraduate New Student Orientation occurs three times a year, with each admission cycle—once in January, May, and August. Incoming BSN students are required to attend the New Student Orientation assigned to their incoming cohort.

The live undergraduate orientation provides incoming students with the opportunity to hear from offices such as the Office of Academic Affairs, the Student Success Center, the Office of Student Life, and the Counseling Center.

Additionally, there is allotted time for incoming students to ask questions to current faculty about class and clinical expectations, as well as ask current students about their experiences in nursing school.

If you are an admitted undergraduate student, you will receive updates about your New Student Orientation to your LiveMail email account. Matriculated students with questions may check the SON New Student Requirements and Orientation Academic Support Course on Canvas.

Graduate Student Orientation

Graduate New Student Orientation occurs once a year with each admissions cycle in August. Incoming DNP graduate students are required to attend the orientation assigned to their incoming class.

The live graduate orientation provides incoming graduate students with the opportunity to hear from School of Nursing resources such as the Office of Academic Affairs and the Student Success Center, as well as additional university resources such as the Office of Student Life and the Student Counseling Center.
Additionally, there is allotted time for incoming graduate students to ask questions to current faculty about class expectations, as well as ask current students about their experiences in graduate school.

If you are an admitted graduate student, you will receive updates about your New Student Orientation to your LiveMail email account. Matriculated students with questions may check the SON New Student Requirements and Orientation Academic Support Course on Canvas.
