The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a complex joint formed by the head of the lower jaw, the skull base and ligaments, muscles and nerves. There are two TMJs located on each side of the jaw that enable a seamless opening and closing of the jaw during our daily activities. º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ School of Dentistry collaboration supports Jordanian dental education


The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry and the George Washington University’s Office of International Medicine Programs at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences have jointly agreed upon a six-year, contracted collaboration to provide academic support for the Faculty of Dentistry at Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences (ISUMS), the first private medical school in Amman, Jordan.

Jaclyn Merlo, MS, a second-year doctoral student in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Integrated Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program, has been granted a series of awards while working under the mentorship of Shivani B. Distinguished dental educator Jon M. Dossett, DMD, named Texas Dentist of the Year


Jon M. Dossett, DMD, FACD, FICD, MAGD, ABGD, assistant professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, was presented with the 2023 Texas Dentist of the Year award. 

Every year, the Texas Academy of General Dentistry (Texas AGD) selects one dentist to honor as the Texas Dentist of the Year, the highest honor a Texas dentist can receive. This year, 14 nominees were chosen throughout the state from local societies and 10 active components of the Texas Dental Association and Texas AGD.
