Dental student wins first place at IADR

 

We are thrilled to announce that Josue De Jesus Murillo, a DDS/PhD student at the School of Dentistry, received first place in the neuroscience poster competition at the conference. The IADR is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing dental, oral and craniofacial research worldwide.


Dental student recognized as a 2024 Presidential Ambassador Scholar

 

º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ’s 2024 Presidential Ambassador Scholars were officially recognized by Acting President , last month.

Hromas, with assistance from the deans and associate deans from the schools, presented each student with their medals and recognized their achievements, with each ambassador awarded a $5,000 scholarship. The ambassadors will represent the student body and the university at multiple events throughout the year.


School of Dentistry 2024 graduates

 

On Saturday, May 18, 1,098 graduates from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio participated in the combined spring and summer commencement ceremony at the Alamodome.

The School of Dentistry awarded degrees or certificates to 172 graduates, including 107 Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees and 19 Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degrees.

Proud parents, family members and friends witnessed the celebratory sights and sounds of the 1,098 graduates of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio who crossed the stage during the combined spring and summer commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18, at the Alamodome.


Natalie Cordeiro, who will soon become a 2024 graduate of the School of Dentistry, believes a visit to the dentist can be a transformative experience for patient and hygienist alike.

42nd Annual School of Dentistry Research and Clinical Symposium

The School of Dentistry celebrated its 42nd Annual Research and Clinical Symposium this February in the Holly Auditorium and Foyer. This year’s symposium welcomed full attendance for the more than 35 oral and poster research presentations by pre-doctoral, doctoral and post-doctoral students, residents, dental and dental hygiene students, and dental faculty.

DDS admissions team thanks faculty and student volunteers for a successful admissions season


The School of Dentistry is finalizing its Doctor of Dental Surgery Class of 2028 as a result of the dedication and hard work by the staff, faculty and dental students who helped organize, review and interview this year’s applicants.

A committee of faculty members makes up the school’s Admission Review Panel (ARP) Committee. This year, these members reviewed 1,131 applications in order to select the most qualified candidates for interviews.

The School of Dentistry celebrated the opening of its Phil and Karen Hunke Special Care Clinic on Feb. 7. The clinic will provide comprehensive dental care for adults and children with intellectual, developmental, cognitive or physical disabilities, and those with complex medical conditions.
