Dear Colleagues and Students, I've compiled a top-11 list of reminders I would like for you to consider before the site visit this October 8th - 10th. If you have any lingering questions about our accreditation assessment, please contact me at 210-567-3180. We are ready and, thanks to all of you, anticipate an extraordinary outcome. 1. The CODA consultants will have a ‘home base’ located on the Long Campus, however assessment meetings will be conducted on both the Long Campus and at UT Dentistry. 2. Please be on time, in fact a good rule of thumb is to arrive 5 minutes early to any scheduled meeting with the consultants. 3. If you don’t know the answer to a consultant’s question, don’t feel obligated to think of an answer. If no one in the room knows the answer, offer to have documentation brought to the consultant team with the requested information. 4. No need to elaborate on an answer unless specifically asked to. The schedule is very tight; the consultants have specific questions they need time to get to in order to conduct a proper assessment. 5. When referring to someone in a response, it is helpful to use their title so the consultants have a better idea of who you are speaking about. For example: “Yes, that is handled by Dr. Stefanie Seitz, Assistant Dean for Students.” 6. Please be reminded that the consultants are permitted to ask any faculty member, staff person, or student a question even if they are not scheduled to meet with them. 7. Refrain from using campus-familiar acronyms like GPG or IPC. Instead say, General Practice Group or Introduction to Patient Care. 8. Please remember that food or beverages in clinic or the simulation labs have never been permitted. 9. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) needs to be worn properly in appropriate areas and, conversely, removed before entering other areas. 10. We have accomplished much and will continue to make a mark in the future of our profession.
