Sonam Khurana, B.D.S., M.D.S.,
2nd year Oral & Maxillofacial Resident, Department of Comprehensive Dentistry
Sonam Khurana, B.D.S., M.D.S., was awarded 3rd place in the Briscoe Library’s 3rd Annual Image of Research Photography Competition which came with a $200 prize. Dr. Khurana is a 2nd year resident in the School of Dentistry’s Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology program. Her winning image, 3D Dummy Corpse, is a three-dimensional animation model “depicting nerve and blood supply to the teeth”, says a narrative about the work. “Models are very useful to explain anatomical relationships and function in structures that may be too small to discern adequately in a cadaver.”
"I am thankful to the Briscoe Library’s 3rd Annual Image of Research Photography Competition committee for recognizing my work. It is a unique experience to present research work in a pictorial form. I wish to continue working as a researcher to give my little contribution to the field of dentistry." - Sonam Khurana
The Briscoe Library’s annual competition invites students, residents, fellows, and, new this year, faculty and staff from all schools to capture the “essence of their research” in a single image. Submissions are reviewed by a panel of multidisciplinary judges who select the winners. Typically, the winning images can be viewed in the Briscoe Library, however, due to social distancing recommendations, you can view and read all about them on the Briscoe Library website.
