Third-year dental students are shaking off their online fatigue by playing rounds of Jeopardy in their oral medicine course. The game, led by course directors David Ojeda DĆaz, DDS, and Tiffany Tavares, DDS, both clinical assistant professors in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, was introduced to the students at the beginning of the spring semester when they were grouped into three teams of four. Throughout the semester, the teams completed weekly worksheets competing for one of two spots in the final Jeopardy round, which was held on Wednesday, April 21st. The top teams, ā€œThe Girlzā€ and ā€œThe Married Menā€, battled in a high-stakes finale for the championship title and $50 gift cards to purchase new scrubs, sponsored by Dr. Ojeda DĆaz, Dr. Tavares, Adriana Segura, DDS, MS, associate dean for academics, faculty and student affairs, and Stefanie Seitz, DDS, assistant dean for students. The game included topics such as San Antonio Facts, Beyond Lichen Planus, Dentistry in Entertainment, and Dental Facts. The match was also livestreamed through Canvas for the education and entertainment of the rest of the junior class.
