Give the Gift of Hope to Dental Hygiene Students

Kaymen Fryer, BSDH Class of 2022, demonstrates proper tooth brushing.
At the School of Dentistry, our Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene students are dedicated to becoming extraordinary health care providers for their future patients. Behind the passion to provide the best care and treatment is a personal journey that leads each student to our school. For Kaymen Fryer, Class of 2022, her journey began during a mission trip in Peru while assisting a medical and dental team. “The dental hygienists on the trip inspired me to pursue a career in the dental field. They taught me how to give comprehensive oral hygiene instruction and soon it was my responsibility to teach all patients how to brush and floss effectively.” From that experience, Kaymen was moved to focus on pediatrics. “I saw patients of all ages, but the children inspired me the most. I would see their black pitted teeth and explain to them that as they get older, they would get one more set of adult teeth. If they took really good care of their teeth from here on out, they could have them forever. The next day this same group of kids found me early in the morning and asked if I would brush my teeth with them. We all sat outside and brushed our teeth together. That kind of excitement warmed my heart and by pursuing this career I know I can make a similar difference in a person’s life every day.” Students, like Kaymen, rely on gifts from alumni like you to support their pursuit of excellence in dental care. With your support, students develop into experienced dental hygiene professionals who provide advanced levels of highly sophisticated care in a critical segment of the health care system. Please consider making a gift today, and help us shape the future of dentistry and educate future generations about the importance of oral hygiene. Together, we make lives better.
