Late last month, seniors of the Dental Hygiene Program were coated during an unofficial Welcome to the Profession ceremony conducted during their ethics course. To the sound of soft music played on a student’s phone, Jo Ann Jordan, MA, RDH, director of the Dental Hygiene Program, called up each senior one by one to receive their School of Dentistry embroidered coat and a copy of the Dental Hygiene Oath. The group recited the oath in unison before closing the ceremony with photos. The School of Dentistry’s official Welcome to the Profession event, originally planned for August, was postponed in compliance with campus precautionary measures against the COVID delta variant. A new date has not yet been announced.
