2021 Faculty Promotions

Ravikumar Anthony, BDS, MS, MDS<br>Associate Professor/Clinical,<br>Department of Developmental Dentistry
The School of Dentistry wishes to congratulate Ravikumar Anthony, BDS, MS, MDS, and Rebekah Sculley, RDH, MS, for their successful applications for promotion. Their promotions were approved by the UT System Board of Regents to be effective September 1, 2021. Dr. Anthony, appointed in the Department of Developmental Dentistry, has been awarded promotion to Associate Professor/Clinical. He received his postgraduate training in orthodontics from the School of Dentistry, graduating in 2008. Dr. Anthony remained with the Graduate Program in Orthodontics, appointed as a residency clinical instructor. In 2014, he was appointed as the program’s director where he has made numerous enhancements for the past seven years, including the incorporation of lingual orthodontics to the curriculum and a requirement for residents to complete a Master’s in Dental Science degree. In support of his promotion, a former student wrote, “I am thankful to Dr. Anthony for exposing us to a wide variety of appliances, schools of thinking, and types of cases. I feel competent to work with my peers in the field.” Prof. Sculley, appointed in the Department of Periodontics, has been awarded promotion to Assistant Professor/Clinical. In 2008, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the School of Dentistry and returned to the school in 2016 as a clinical instructor for the Division of Dental Hygiene. During her tenure on faculty, she has committed to an intense teaching schedule and has helped to implement innovative teaching methodologies which help her students to reflect on different points of view and problem solve. This past year, Prof. Sculley completed her graduate coursework to earned her Master’s of Science in Education and Human Development form Texas A&M University. In a comment in support of Prof. Sculley’s promotion, a colleague wrote, “She maintains the highest professionalism standards even under difficult situations and constantly strives for improvement which is clearly evident in her teaching.” For interested faculty, the School of Dentistry’s Promotion, Tenure, and Appointments Committee’s (PTAC) process timeline can be found on SharePoint.
