CAR T-cell therapy has revolutionized cancer immunotherapy for B-cell related cancers but is hindered from widespread usage due to concerns regarding the adverse event of neurotoxicity. It is currently hypothesized that the mechanism of action is related to cytokine storm, breakdown of the blood-brain barrier, and infiltration of somatic cells into the brain parenchyma. Amy's project aims to uncover the specific mechanism that mediates CAR T-associated neurotoxicity to identify and treat patients most at risk of developing adverse side effects.
